Anna Eliot is tired of worrying about what other people think. After all, that was how she lost the only guy she ever really liked, Finn Westbrook.

Now, three years after she broke his heart, the one who got away is back in her life.
All Anna wants is a chance to relive their last kiss again (and again and again). But Finn obviously hasn’t forgotten how she treated him, and he’s made it clear he has no interest in having anything to do with her.

Anna keeps trying to persuade herself that she doesn’t care about Finn either, but even though they’ve both changed since they first met, deep down she knows he’s the guy for her. Now if only she can get him to believe that, too....

With her signature wit and expertly authentic teen voice, Claire LaZebnik (the author of fan favorites Epic Fail and The Trouble with Flirting) once again breathes new life into a perennially popular love story. Fans of Polly Shulman, Maureen Johnson, and, of course, Jane Austen will love this irresistibly funny and romantic tale of first loves and second chances.

After reading several intense books I needed to read something light, cute and without to much drama, so I think that this book was perfect in that aspect, plus it´s a retelling. The Last Best Kiss is the modern retelling of Jane Austen's Persuasion and although I haven't read it yet, I do have an idea of the story.

Anna is a seventeen year old girl, that so far she can´t stop thinking about Finn Westbrook, a boy she met when she was fourteen years old, she date him in secret. Fourteen year old Finn was a nerd, the smallest of the class, with eyeglasses that didn´t favor him and he didn´t dress fashionably, but still fourteen year old Anna saw something in him and date him for a few months, but when the time came to be seen in public Anna didn´t dare to be seen with him and broke his heart. And at the end of the school year Finn moves from town and she doesn´t see him again ....... until now.

In her senior year of high school, Finn returns ... and he really changed, he´s no longer a skinny little guy, now he´s an attractive guy. Finn is indifferent towards Anna and she tries to apologize to him but fails to fix things between them. So she must suffer for her mistakes and see him from afar even though they´re in the same circle of friends.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Last Best Kiss, is a fun, light and cute read without too much drama (there is drama, but not about heavy issues) and I 'm glad I read this book and I'll definitely check out her other retellings.

  7. You know, I didn't even realize it until you said it, but I think I really need a cute, lighthearted story right now. I have been reading a lot of darker, intense stories and I think I need a break. Don't get me wrong, those types of stories have always been and will always be my favorite, but I think at times you need a book like this one, that is just cute and fun and sweet, to lighten the load a little bit. Thanks so much for your review!!!!

  11. I read another book from this author & it was okay but a adorably teen read. I could see her writing a cute summer romance. I'm really glad you enjoyed.
