A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.

We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.

Read it.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.

We Were Liars is one of those books that you may like or not, and in my case I find it amazing, unique, brilliant, shocking and heartbreaking, it´s a book very well written and it´s a very quick read (I read it in one day). The story was very engaging, I love these type of mystery stories, it was thrilling with a surprising twist that really blew me away.

And it is advisable to read it without knowing more about the plot, that way it´ll surprise you.

SO GO AND GET IT!, BUT IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE PLOT KEEP READING. (no spoilers)

We Were Liars tells Cadence Sinclair story, a girl who belongs to a wealthy family that owns a private island where she spends every summer since forever. There every summer she sees her cousins, aunts and grandparents, all the Sinclair are perfect, blond, attractive and they appear to be the perfect family even if things aren´t perfect.

Two years ago Candence had an accident on the island, which she doesn´t remember, when she returns to the island after a time away she tries to remember what happened to her but nobody wants to talk about the incident.

And that's all I'll tell about this book, since seriously the less you know about the story the better.

  1. I think all of the hype surrounding this book completely ruined it for me-I was expecting so much more. The tone was just, overall, very pretentious. The twist definitely came out of left field, but..meh..it didn't break me.

I'm glad you enjoyed it though!
