Waiting On Wednesday: What if It's Us

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The book I´m waiting this week is
What if It's Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera
Release date: October 9th 2018
Arthur is only in New York for the summer, but if Broadway has taught him anything, it’s that the universe can deliver a showstopping romance when you least expect it.

Ben thinks the universe needs to mind its business. If the universe had his back, he wouldn’t be on his way to the post office carrying a box of his ex-boyfriend’s things.

But when Arthur and Ben meet-cute at the post office, what exactly does the universe have in store for them?
Maybe nothing. After all, they get separated.

Maybe everything. After all, they get reunited.

But what if they can’t quite nail a first date . . . or a second first date . . . or a third?

What if Arthur tries too hard to make it work . . . and Ben doesn’t try hard enough?

What if life really isn’t like a Broadway play?

Why I'm Waiting?
Just for the authors, I didn´t even read the blurb, just because I loved Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli and really enjoyed They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera. Can´t wait to read it.

Review: All the Beautiful Lies by Peter Swanson

Release date: April 3rd 2018
Reading level: Ages 18 and up
Source: Edelweiss
Format: eARC

Rating: 4/5

Harry Ackerson has always considered his stepmother Alice to be sexy and beautiful, in an "otherworldly" way. She has always been kind and attentive, if a little aloof in the last few years.

Days before his college graduation, Alice calls with shocking news. His father is dead and the police think it’s suicide. Devastated, Harry returns to his father’s home in Maine. There, he and Alice will help each other pick up of the pieces of their lives and uncover what happened to his father.

Shortly after he arrives, Harry meets a mysterious young woman named Grace McGowan. Though she claims to be new to the area, Harry begins to suspect that Grace may not be a complete stranger to his family. But she isn’t the only attractive woman taking an interest in Harry. The sensual Alice is also growing closer, coming on to him in an enticing, clearly sexual way.

Mesmerized by these two women, Harry finds himself falling deeper under their spell. Yet the closer he gets to them, the more isolated he feels, disoriented by a growing fear that both women are hiding dangerous—even deadly—secrets . . . and that neither one is telling the truth.

If you are in the mood of a good mystery thriller look no further, you found it! All the Beautiful Lies had me turning pages like crazy and sufficiently intrigued to want to know more about the main characters.

Harry Ackerson is young man that days before his college graduation receives a call from his stepmother telling him that his father is dead, so he travels to his hometown to learn more about the cause of his dead, initially he´s told that his father fell from a cliff, but Harry suspect something is wrong because his father took the same path everyday from work, so he knew it well.

Harry relationship with his stepmother is polite but he doesn´t know her well and he´s awkward around her, even though she had been married to his father for four years, his unease with her is justified (but you have to read it to know why).

The story is told in two parts, the first part is told from the perspective of Harry and Alice in different timeline, Harry´s point of view is in the present and Alice´s is in the past when she was a teenager (Alice story remind me of another book). The second part of the book is told from two different characters that have some kind of connection with Alice and Harry and again is told from two different timeline.

All the Beautiful Lies fascinating, dark and creepy at times, with some twisted taboo relationships. I recommend you read it, but beware that contain some delicate topics. And as I am of the idea that when you read a mystery book the less you know the better, I will say no more.

She's found love and started a family with Curran Lennart, the former Beast Lord. But her magic is too strong for the power players of the world to let her be.

Kate and her father, Roland, currently have an uneasy truce, but when he starts testing her defenses again, she knows that sooner or later, a confrontation is inevitable. The Witch Oracle has begun seeing visions of blood, fire, and human bones. And when a mysterious box is delivered to Kate's doorstep, a threat of war from the ancient enemy who nearly destroyed her family, she knows their time is up.
