Top Ten Tuesday (14): Top Ten Most Intimidating Books

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

Top Ten Most Intimidating Books
(might be intimated by size, content, that everyone else loves it but you are sure you won't etc)
(in no particular order)

Because of the size, sometimes just seen a big fat book intimidates me. Anything more than 600 pages is intimidating (at least for me)
1. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. I have heard great things about this book, and in this case is not the size that intimidates me (because it only has 480 pages), but the great expectations that I have about it.
2. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. I want to read this series so bad, but  just seeing the size of them, there are on hold.
3. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. In this case is the size of the book and so far there are 2 books in this series and both have 600+ pages.
4. Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. In this case is the size of the book and its content because I have heard that it´s too gory.
5. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. I´m intimidated because of the size!! it has 1000+ pages.

Because of it´s content
6. Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma. I ´ve heard mix opinions about this book, but I´m really curious about it.
7. Carrie by Stephen King. Actually is any book written by Stephen King; I haven´t read any book written by him..yet....he is just intimidating.

I dread the ending of a series or trilogy because some times they don´t meet my expectations.
8. Boundless by Cynthia Hand. I have this book sitting on my shelf but I haven´t read it because I dread it´s ending.
9. With All My Soul by Rachel Vincent. I also dread it´s ending.
10. If I Should Die by Amy Plum. The same as the previous two.

What books intimidate you?

  2. Oh man, you have to read The Name of the Wind. Best fantasy series in a long time, I think. Though lots of these terrify me as well!

  4. I agree about Game of Thrones. The size intimidates me. Do you watch the show? Because I do and I am also terrified of reading the books because I don't want to find out who George R.R. Martin will kill off next.

  5. I tried "A Game of Thrones" but I couldn't get into it. I've looked at "Battle Royale" before but I keep running it back to the library. Aw well. Great list.

  7. I could have sworn I left a comment here...Oh well, I shall try again.
Gone with the Wind and Game of Thrones are both on my list for this top ten as well.

While I have rad some Stephen King novels, I haven't read very many. Carrie is one of those many.
