Plagued by a war between magic and technology, Atlanta has never been so deadly. Good thing Kate Daniels is on the job.

Kate Daniels may have quit the Order of Merciful Aid, but she's still knee-deep in paranormal problems. Or she would be if she could get someone to hire her. Starting her own business has been more challenging than she thought it would be now that the Order is disparaging her good name, and many potential clients are afraid of getting on the bad side of the Beast Lord, who just happens to be Kate's mate.

So when Atlanta's premier Master of the Dead calls to ask for help with a vampire on the loose, Kate leaps at the chance of some paying work. Turns out this is not an isolated incident, and Kate needs to get to the bottom of it fast, or the city and everyone dear to her might pay the ultimate price.

The Kate Daniels series has become one of my favorites because it has a great heroine, lots of action, is fast-paced with no dull moments, I also love Kate´s mate Curran (finally! they´re a couple, after so much sexual tension between them), and it has great secondary characters that are easy to like, such as Derek, Julie, Jim and Andrea.

The main plot is very interesting, there is a new threat that could endanger the entire magical world and Kate is in the middle of it, but there are also other subplots such as Kate´s and Curran´s relationship as mates because there are still some details to work out between them. And there is also Julie, Kate´s ward that continues to cause problems like any other teenager.

But in the midst of dealing with all this, Kate discovers new information about Voron, her adoptive father and his relationship with her mother, something that affects her balance and cast doubt on everything she though she knew until then.

Magic Slays was a really great read, it has lots of action and the plot does not stop at any time, the story flows well and it has its funny moments that make me laugh out loud and I also enjoyed Kate´s sarcasm.

The Kate Daniels series is a MUST READ (it´s an amazing series) .... I highly recommend it.
