Me Since You is one of the saddest books I´ve read so far, but it´s also very touching. And I hope to do some justice to this great story with my opinion of it and hope to be consistent because I´m feeling too many emotions, it was a emotional roller coaster.
Rowan Areno is a typical sixteen year-old teen, that one day decides to ditch school with her best friend and she ends at the wrong place and time and this sets off a chain of events that completely change her life forever.
The plot is very raw and with difficult issues, there is a turning point and from there events keep unleashing one after another, which totally destroyed my heart (I will not say about event or turning point because I don´t wait to spoil it for you), but I had a lump in my throat for most of the book and when I thought everything was getting better there is a twist in the story that throw me of balance and from there I couldn't stop crying....was a sob fest.
Me Since You opened my eyes to many issues, such as severe depression, and how can completely change a person overnight; pain and grief so strong for the loss of a loved one that can completely immobilize you, change your personality and simply not be the same once it happens to you, the how people are so callous or reckless and how everyone can talk about things that we don´t know or do not understand and it´s just really easy to point fingers and judge someone without really know what is happening to them. And the endless "what if"..... if only Rowan hadn´t skip school that day her life would be different rather than changes that her family is going through, if only Eli had not made that call to 911, maybe his present would be different, and the desire to have a "do-over" button that lets you repeat an event and wish you had done something different. And how that turning point intertwined the lives of Rowan, Rowan 's father and Eli.
There were several secondary characters in the story that made me angry, but the one that I cound´t stand was Rowan´s best friend Nadia, she was too insensitive and self-centered..
I really liked it! and I think that it´s a book that is worth reading and I do not regret having read it even though I suffered through most of it, is a powerful and raw story, although there were moments that let me breathe a little with common daily events and some budding romance, which was really sweet and cute, but the romance takes a back seat and the main plot is the pain, grief and how it affects each person differently.
This is a book that definitely left a good impression on me.
