I died on a Thursday-killed by a monster
intent on stealing my soul. The good news? He didn't get it. The bad news? Turns
out not even death will get you out of high school...
Covering up her own
murder was one thing, but faking life is much harder than Kaylee Cavanaugh
expected. After weeks spent "recovering," she's back in school, fighting to stay
visible to the human world, struggling to fit in with her friends and planning
time alone with her new reaper boyfriend. But to earn her keep in the human
world, Kaylee must reclaim stolen souls, and when her first assignment brings
her face-to-face with an old foe, she knows the game has changed. Her immortal
status won't keep her safe. And this time Kaylee isn't just gambling with her
own life....
It's
been a month since Kaylee died and she´s trying to fit to her new "life", trying to
stay visible is not easy, she feels lost and disconnected from everything and everyone, the
only person that makes her feel "alive" is her super hot boyfriend Tod.
She
never imagine that feign to be alive and going to school would be so
difficult, her peers do not leave her alone, watching her and asking questions all the time and her ex boyfriend who does not want to talk to her, Kaylee feels that no longer fits in
school anymore. But
she must attend as part of the deal for her new job at the reclamation department,
her soul was reinstated in her body, but now she should work for eternity
rescuing souls that were not programmed to die and have been stolen.
In Before I Wake, Kaylee is facing a new mystery, to discover who is stealing souls and save these souls, and as the thief turns out to be an old enemy of Kaylee, she will have to rally her group of friends (Tod, Nash, Sabine, Emma, Alec, Luca and even a not very convinced Sophie) to help her.
And by the
romance I can not complain, since there was enough. Kaylee
and Tod are totally in love with each other and would do anything for each
other.
“You're not lost, Kaylee. You can't ever be lost, because I'll always know where you are. And if I'm not there with you, I'm on my way, and nothing standing between us will be standing for very long.”
The
Soul Screamers series gets better and better as the story progress in each book and Rachel Vincent continues to amaze me with certain parts of
history that I did not see coming and it definitely left me with my mouth hanging open.
Before
I Wake has romance, has many funny moments, moments with some mystery, very sad moments but especially the last chapter of the book had me biting my fingernails
and trying to figure out how would she solve the problem as she was facing, but definitely I NEVER thought it would happen that way (I'm still in shock). Before
I Wake has an ending that killed me, and I´m definitely looking forward to read With All My Soul (seventh and final book in the Soul Screamers series). You definitely must read this book.

Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley Click on the image to go to Goodreads
Fia was born with flawless instincts. Her first impulse, her gut feeling, is always exactly right. Her sister, Annie, is blind to the world around her—except when her mind is gripped by strange visions of the future.
Trapped in a school that uses girls with extraordinary powers as tools for corporate espionage, Annie and Fia are forced to choose over and over between using their abilities in twisted, unthinkable ways…or risking each other’s lives by refusing to obey.
In a stunning departure from her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy, Kiersten White delivers a slick, edgy, heartstoppingly intense psychological thriller about two sisters determined to protect each other—no matter the cost.

In a future world, vampires reign. Humans
are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save
humanity. Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle
of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one
of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of
them. The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie
herself is attacked--and given the ultimate choice. Die...or become one of the
monsters. Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises
most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most
important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad. Then
Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she
joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend--a possible cure to the
disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless
creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike. But it isn't easy to
pass for human. Especially not around Zeke, who might see past the monster
inside her. And Allie soon must decide what--and who--is worth dying for.
The Immortal Rules combines two genres that I love, paranormal and dystopian.
This book is AMAZING! The Immortal Rules is a must read.
Twins Sera and Luke Raine have a well-kept secret—she heals with a touch of her hand, he sees the future. All their lives they’ve helped those in need on the sly. They’ve always thought of their abilities as being a gift.
Then Luke has a vision that Sera is killed. That gift they’ve always cherished begins to feel an awful lot like a curse. Because the thing about Luke’s ability? He’s always right. And he can’t do anything about it.
Actually when I started reading this book I had high expectations about it because I had read several reviews with very good rating, and the truth I'm not disappointed at all. LOVED THIS BOOK! Intangible is a paranormal novel that has prophecies, vampires, elves, and humans with supernatural powers.
Twins Luke and Sera are 17 year-old, they live with their mother and they´re like any average teen their age except that each has a gift, Sera can heal, a gift that has used all her life to help people, always being careful not to be discovered and Luke can see the future and his visions always come true, no matter what he do to try to change them, this is something that has always bothered him, what´s the point of having visions of the future if he can´t change it?. But now that he had a vision of a mysterious woman killing his sister, he will try anything in order to change the future of his twin.
I loved Luke and Sera! they´re very close, best friends of each other, but they have two friends, Fey is best friend of both and they´re always together and Quinn who is seen less in history and is a friend of both, but as regards their gifts, Sera and Luke only trust each other and nobody else knows their secret.
Others characters that I liked are Fey, which also has a key role in the book and Jonas (Jonas Ohh! ...) the only thing I will say is that I hope the hint at the end of the book comes true, I´m rooting for him.
The story is told from multiple points of view, the main POV been of Sera and Luke, which I like because I got to know a little more of the key supporting characters of the story and they´re motivations.
If you like paranormal YA novels, you must read Intangible.

This time the covers that I like most are those of Germany, the UK and Greece.
My 2 favorites because I'm undecided between the UK and Germany covers. I love the UK cover because I personally prefer red book covers, and I just love the German cover as soon as I saw it, but it reminds me a bit of The Morganville Vampires covers.
This book will feature Cinder and Little Red Riding Hood and will take place in France.
Cinder returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.
Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own.
As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner.

The first novel in the original, six-book Iron Druid Chronicles--introducing a cool, new, funny urban fantasy hero.
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old—when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.
Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power—plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a sexy bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish—to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.
I read Hounded last year and I loved it! This book was fun, fast paced with lots of action. If you like Urban Fantasy this is a must read.
I just realized I have not read too many books written by a male author, I need to remedy that.
Have you read Hounded? What did you think about it?

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.
Pushing the Limits is a contemporary novel and I loved it, is a heartbreaking story (yes, I cried), but in the end it left me feeling that all was well with the world.
The story is told from two points of view, alternating between Echo and Noah, and I loved that because it made me understand them a little more, especially Noah. I loved the characters of Echo and Noah (I adored him!).
Echo is a 17 year-old girl, she´s in her senior year, she used to be popular but now she´s a freak and subject to gossip and speculations because of the scars on her arms, which she covers with long-sleeved shirts and gloves, she attends therapy weekly with a social worker at her school because she can´t remember anything about the day she suffered the accident. Echo lives with her father, whom she blindly obey and with her stepmother, whom she hates. Noah is 17 year-old too and also like Echo is in his senior year. Noah is considered a bad boy with a bad reputation for been a womanizer, he is an orphan and lives in a foster home and also attends therapy with the same clinical social worker as Echo.
"I won't tell anyone, Echo. I promise." Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. "You didn't do that-did you? It was done to you?" No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked.
Echo is a very good student and is assigned to tutor Noah, so they begin to spend time together, at first they did not get along, but as they spend more time together the attraction between them is undeniable. And they found in each other something they needed and hadn´t so far managed to find, understanding and acceptance; they needed to feel normal.
"But I wanted normal and for a few minutes that´s what I was. Like two years ago...like before..."
Normal. She wanted normal and so do I. "You know what´s normal?"
Another great character is Mrs.Collins, the social worker who provides therapy to Echo and Noah. I loved her interaction with both, especially with Noah because he was the most reluctant to trust an adult.
Pushing the Limits is the debut novel of Katie McGarry and she did an outstanding job, with a plot that keep me hooked from the beginning and I could not put it down. I could connect with the main characters and understand them. Pushing the Limits is a story with romance where the protagonists embark on an emotional journey where they learn to forgive, to trust and end up seeing the world differently.
This is a book that I recommend and is a must read. I can´t wait to read next book of this author, Dare You To, is Beth´s story, she appears in this book, she´s like a sister to Noah.

I like the Indonesian cover, I don´t know if it go with the theme of the book, since I have not read it, but at least this cover gets my attention, if they were all on the same shelf, the first book I would choose to read the back cover would be the Indonesian.
My second and third choice would be the German and the Croatia covers.
