Girls started vanishing in the fall, and now winter's come to lay a white sheet over the horror. Door County, it seems, is swallowing the young, right into its very dirt. From beneath the house on Water Street, I've watched the danger swell.

The residents know me as the noises in the house at night, the creaking on the stairs. I'm the reflection behind them in the glass, the feeling of fear in the cellar. I'm tied—it seems—to this house, this street, this town.

I'm tied to Maggie and Pauline, though I don't know why. I think it's because death is coming for one of them, or both.

All I know is that the present and the past are piling up, and I am here to dig.I am looking for the things that are buried.

From bestselling author Jodi Lynn Anderson comes a friendship story bound in snow and starlight, a haunting mystery of love, betrayal, redemption, and the moments that we leave behind.

This is the first book I read by Jodi Lynn Anderson. I did liked the plot, although I didn´t connect with the main characters, so I felt that I might hadn´t enjoyed it as much as expected. The Vanishing Season a book a thriller with a paranormal twist, about a girl who has just moved to a small town where girls are disappearing to later to be found dead floating in the lake.

Maggie has just moved with her parents to Door Country, she´s home schooled and doesn´t have many friends other than her new neighbor Pauline, that is a beautiful and rich girl and somewhat eccentric, plus Paulin´s best friend Liam. With them she finds a friendship that she didn´t expect to find and had good and funny moments with them, but they´re always aware of the disappearances.

The book is told from two points of views, being mostly told by Maggie´s POV, but we also get the POV of a spirit that observes the trio and knows that something bad is coming and it could hurt any of them.

This book is very beautifully written, it has lots of mystery, suspense and some romance, but there were times when I felt that nothing happened and the murders take back seat to what was happening to Maggie at the time, besides that I didn´t enjoy the love triangle. I must say that the end was unexpected and shocking, but unfortunately for that time I couldn´t care less about what happened to the characters. But I would like to read another of the books by this author.

  2. I don't have much to say other than I am sorry that this one didn't work for you either. The triangle ruined the whole thing for me, so much so that the very limited amount of other things happening was kind of ruined

  3. The premise of this book is intriguing but I'm somewhat discouraged due to the bad reception. I do enjoy books told from multiple POV's so I'll put it on my maybe list.

  4. I don't come across YA thrillers very often. It's a bit intriguing but haven't seen the best reviews of this book so far.

  5. Hmm this sounds like a mediocre read. This can go on my alternate to-read list.
