When Freedom Airlines flight 121 went down over the Pacific Ocean, no one ever expected to find survivors. Which is why the sixteen-year-old girl discovered floating among the wreckage—alive—is making headlines across the globe.

Even more strange is that her body is miraculously unharmed and she has no memories of boarding the plane. She has no memories of her life before the crash. She has no memories period. No one knows how she survived. No one knows why she wasn’t on the passenger manifest. And no one can explain why her DNA and fingerprints can’t be found in a single database in the world.

Crippled by a world she doesn’t know, plagued by abilities she doesn’t understand, and haunted by a looming threat she can’t remember, Seraphina struggles to piece together her forgotten past and discover who she really is. But with every clue only comes more questions. And she’s running out of time to answer them.

Her only hope is a strangely alluring boy who claims to know her from before the crash. Who claims they were in love. But can she really trust him? And will he be able to protect her from the people who have been making her forget?

From popular young adult author Jessica Brody comes a compelling and suspenseful new sci-fi series, set in a world where science knows no boundaries, memories are manipulated, and true love can never be forgotten.

I liked this book, the story is very interesting (although I felt a deja vu, because it reminded me a lot of TV series), the plot has mystery, suspense and at least I was trying to piece together the clues of the plot.

Unremembered begins with a girl who wakes up in the middle of the sea, she´s disoriented, and doesn´know how she got there and what happened. Later we find out that Violet (which is the name given to her by her nurse, because she doesn´t want to call her Jane Doe) suffers from amnesia and she is the only survivor of flight 121, she does not remember anything, she can speak and remember the meaning of words (she´s like a walking dictionary), but she isn´t familiar with the technology, with the modern language (slang), she can not identify her feelings and other things that should be familiar. And because of her amnesia when she leaves the hospital she is placed in a foster home and there with the help of her foster brother she begins to investigate and slowly she discovers about her past and she also has the help of misterious boy, he says that she must remember her past because she´s in danger.

What I liked about this story is that although Violet is naive, she is a suspicious and untrusting person and she doesn't believe in all that the mysterious boy tell her and also as she slowly discovers her past and how she can do things that she's not aware of knowing.

Unremembered is a novel that would fall within the category of science fiction, it has action, suspense, mystery, a little romance and also has a very interesting twist, but the end I felt a bit anticlimactic, but I do like this book.

Thank you very much to Farrar, Straus, & Giroux (BYR) and NetGalley for providing this egalley for review.

  3. This one is getting some serious praise right now, and I am looking forward to it. I don't read a ton of Science fiction, unless it is a really light sci-fi. But I think this one will be one that I could enjoy. Thanks for the great review!

  7. I hate to hear that this was a bit anticlimactic. It's like you are anticipating this huge plot changer but then never get it. You always feel disappointed afterward. At least, I do. I still think it sounds good, though, and glad you did like it.
