Recommend A... is a weekly meme where we share our recommendations of books based on prompts provided each week by Shanyn from the blog Chick Loves Lit .

This week is Recommend A....Book by a Male Author

The first novel in the original, six-book Iron Druid Chronicles--introducing a cool, new, funny urban fantasy hero.

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old—when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.

Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power—plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a sexy bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish—to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.
I read Hounded last year and I loved it! This book was fun, fast paced with lots of action. If you like Urban Fantasy this is a must read.

I just realized I have not read too many books written by a male author, I need to remedy that.

Have you read Hounded? What did you think about it?

  1. I haven't managed to get my hands on any urban fantasy reads, but this does sound pretty good. Thanks for the recommendation!

  3. I've been wanting to read this book for so long. I saw it on Netgalley today and immediately went to request it. Hopefully I'll get approved for a copy.

If you want some recommendations I think I have a few. I love Scott Westerfeld, but you may have already read his books. Jay Kristoff has a book called Stormdancer that looks really interesting. Not out yet, but you can request a for it on Netgalley. There's Andrew Fukuda's The Hunt and David Macinnis Gill's Black Hole Sun. I know a few more, but can't think of them right now.
