Unique world-building
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter #1) by J.K. Rowling: I love the world of the Harry Potter series and I find it unique.
Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1) by Marissa Meyer : Cinder has an unique dystopic/sci-fi world.
Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #1) by Laini Taylor : One of my favorites worlds in YA books.
Cruel Beauty (Cruel Beauty Universe) by Rosamund Hodge: What I love most of this book was the world building.
White Cat (Curse Workers #1) by Holly Black : I found particularly dark and unique the world of the curse workers.
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater : What I found unique about this books was the races with water horses (I thought that the races were with normal horses).
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater : What I found unique about this books was the races with water horses (I thought that the races were with normal horses).
Unique main characters
The Girl of Fire and Thorns (Fire and Thorns #1) by Rae Carson : Elisa the MC is unique (to me) because she isn´t the typical beauty, slim and the one that all the man wants, she´s overweight, and really insecure, but she changes during the course of this book.
Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead : Rose was the first (that Ive read in YA) female MC that can kick butt and don´t need a male MC to save her.
The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1) by Julie Kagawa : Allison is my favorite female MC in YA, because she´s a strong vampire that doens´t want to lose her humanity and is in constant struggle....and also can kick butt.

As far as the books go Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Harry are the only two that I have read, and I agree wholeheartedly! And I 100% agree about good old Rose! She is still one of my all time favorite girls in YA or Adult Fiction!
ReplyDeleteI agree that Harry Potter is very unique. Although many authors since have tried to copy. Vampire Academy was fun and Rose is amazing! Recently started the Immortal Rules series so I have yet to make up my mind there.
