The Time Paradox book is one of my favorites of the series, in this book we see a more vulnerable Artemis, not as in control of the situation as usual and willing to do anything to save the life of his mother (okay, he´s always willing to cheat, steal, lie, kidnap, etc. to get what he wants, but lately he has developed a conscience). His mother has a rare disease that affects only the fairies and can only be cured by the brain fluid of a lemur that died five years ago and that Artemis himself had a hand in the extinction of the lemur. So Artemis has to travel back in time and recover the lemur before it is exterminated. So now a 14 year-old Artemis will have to face a10 year-old  Artemis in order to save the life of his mother, which is not an easy task because ten year-old.Artemis thinks exactly like hem, but it's a little more devious.

In The Time Paradox Artemis is 14 year old and through the previous books we saw him grow emotionally, develop a conscience, leave his criminal past behind (or at least try), try to take into account the feelings people and trust on his friends and allies; so now he must face off against his younger self and that Artemis is a criminal mind, somewhat obnoxious and very similar in character as we knew it in the first book of the series, is not easy because Artemis 10 years only play dirty.

One thing I liked was that I could see in the memories of Artemis that was what triggered his change as a child to become a criminal that we met at the beginning of the series, obnoxious and unforgiving. And I could also see and compare the great change in Artemis´s character.

In The Time Paradox, Captain Holly Short returns to assist Artemis with his rescue mission. This pair get closer in this adventure and I´m intrigued about what is going to happen with them in the following books.

I really liked this book and feel it was more emotional than the others, but without losing what has characterized this series - the adventure and the humor. I loved The Time Paradox! is one of my favorites so far.

He was not beaten yet - far from it. He intended to cross swords with his ten year-old self again just as soon he possibly could. If anything, the boy´s mocking speech had fueled his determination. Remember the pain? thought Artemis. I hate myself. I really do.

Had he always been this obnoxious? How tiresome. Little wonder people in general did not like him.

The story begins in Barcelona, Spain where Artemis and Butler are waiting for someone that should arrive in a few minutes, when the person doesn´t arrive Artemis and company decide to leave when suddenly appears out of nowhere a demon that takes Artemis to another time, but thanks to Butler and that he had a hand on Artemis´s shoulder and he is wearing a silver bracelet that anchors the, to the current time, so Artemis make it back in time, almost intact.

The plot of this book focuses on demons (relatives of the fairies) that over 500 years ago moved to another dimension, because they did not want to live underground as do the fairies, but now their world is unstable and is beginning to cast out demons around the world and this can expose the fairies to the human world. So Artemis will again join forces with Holly to once again save the faerie world from being exposed so they can continue living in secret from the human world.

Now fourteen year old Artemis is trying to become a better person and let his bad habit behind, his criminal ways. Something that I found funny is see Artemis fighting his teen hormones since apparently this distract him very much. This time his opponent is a twelve year old genius girl. Minerva wants to expose the faeries to the world and Artemis must stop her.

Artemis rubbed his temples. "It's this blasted puberty, Butler. Every time I see a pretty girl, I waste valuable mind space thinking about her."

The Lost Colony as usual in the Artemis Fowl series has action, adventure and has its funny parts and the friendship between Artemis and Holly grows even though the rest of the fairies remain distrustful of him. I really liked this book, I do recommended it.

I know, there's no mistaking it. This is definitely a Carrier Series  cover, but that was the intention. After the amazing reception to the  cover of Carrier of the Mark, HarperCollins wanted Shadow's cover to  be instantly recognizable. And it is, but the new darker color palette  reflects the darker tone that this installment brings, and the pink  and purple really make it pop. I love it and think HarperCollins have  done another amazing job. I hope you like it too.

Bio

I started out life in South Africa. A year later my parents moved home to Dublin, Ireland. When I was older and realized my parents had moved me from exotic Durban, to sedate Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, I was rightly ticked off.

Giving up lions for sheep, I grew up in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains where I went to a convent school and had to contend with uniforms, gabardines, and nuns. When not dodging the beady glare of  the Sisters of Mercy, I was devouring every book I could get my hands on.

I traveled all over Europe while working in banking and treasury, but I gave up my calculator in favor of a keyboard and haven´t stopped writing since. My first book, Carrier of the Mark, was published by
HarperTeen in 2011.

Our home is in Cork in the south of Ireland, but we´re currently on loan to Massachusetts in the US where I continue to write books about  magic, ghosts, and romance, with a bit of Irish flavor.

The Lost Prince is just amazing! Julie Kagawa is an excellent writer, she bring us back to the world that I loved so much in The Iron Fey series. Ethan Chase has grown, he´s now 17 years-old, he had built a wall between the outside world and him and he doesn´t let anyone get close to him, so Ethan has no friends, appears to be a bad boy this to drive away to everyone, he´s cynical and treat people with disdain, but all this is to keep the other people safe from a dangerous world, a world that he can not escape - the world of the fairies.

Ethan is a angry boy, he lives with a lot of hatred, anger, resentment and fear towards the fey world and everything that has to do with it, he only wants to be left alone, but since they don´t, he must defend himself so he is an expert in Kali, a Filipino martial art that uses rattan, knives and swords ... Ethan and therefore is no longer a helpless child. Something that made me sad are the feelings he has for his sister Meghan.

The book is told from Ethan POV, the story begins with him attending a new school and there he meets Kenzie, a girl that is very persistent that even though Ethan try to scare her off, she does not take no for an answer, so they both end up in the Nevernever and trying to alert The Iron Queen of a new race of fairies that is causing havoc in the real world.

The Lost Prince have new characters including Kenzie, Kierran and Annwyl, but also return the main characters of the series The Iron Fey - Meghan, Ash, Puck and Grimalkin among others. From the "new" characters I really liked Kenzie and Kierran (he appears on The Iron Knight briefly); Kenzie is strong, loyal, determined ans stubborn. I loved Kierran (though not at the end), he is strong, with good sense of humor and funny (although not as much as Puck).

This book is addictive, it grabs you and will not let you go, it has a lot of action where Ethan he demostrates his fighting skills with swords and the rattan. And although there is not a cliffhanger, I can´t wait to read the next book, I want to know more about this new race of fairies and literally my jaw dropped when I found out the name of the next book, now I have to wait until September 2013 to read it .

This book is a must for fans of The Iron Fey series. Definitely a must read!

It’s also been six months of waiting for Alex’s parents to return from Iowa. Alex and Darla decide they can wait no longer and must retrace their journey into Iowa to find and bring back Alex’s parents to the tenuous safety of Illinois. But the landscape they cross is even more perilous than before, with life-and-death battles for food and power between the remaining communities. When the unthinkable happens, Alex must find new reserves of strength and determination to survive.

It has been 10 months since the eruption of the super volcano in Yellowstone (as my copy was ARC, may have changes from final book), Alex and Darla lead a quiet and safe life on his uncle´s farm, until an event comes to change their lives and they decide to go looking for Alex's parents. They embark on a dangerous journey and even more difficult than that their trip months before and once again they will risk their lives.

Alex and Darla have grown as people and the love for each other also has grown (they often remind me of a marriage couple), they´re definitely not kids anymore even though Alex is 16 year old and Darla is 18 year old, they had to grow up and adapt to their new reality. I must say I didn´t like a particular decision that Alex makes during their trip, I was in shock and once I recover from it, I was angry at him (it was one of those times that you want to get into the book and shake him and make him see reason), but later I sort of understanding him, he´s softhearted and care about others. The book also introduces new characters, Alyssa and Ben (they´re siblings), and although the character Darla is my favorite of the trilogy (so far), the character of Ben is really great. Ashen Winter is seen from Alex´s point of view. 

Ashen Winter is a realistic post-apocalyptic novel, dark, thrilling, even more chilling, violent, and more action-packed than its predecessor Ashfall. It is simply AMAZING!. I love it! I highly recommend it.
